Offboarding Process in the TEC
What it was. The humane, structured process for a contributor to step back or leave — designed so people could take time off or transition out without dropping commitments on the rest of the community.
Who it was for. Any contributor rotating out (temporarily or permanently), and especially Community Stewards managing role transitions.
What it looked like. A staged process: give notice (via the Gravity typeform or to a Steward/Graviton, ideally 1–2 weeks ahead), confirm a transition date at the next Stewards call, and hand off work during sprint planning so priorities are reassigned without overloading others. It paired the mechanics with a culture of “give a lot of praise along the way,” and gave special handling to replacing Community Steward roles.
