Discord
Platform: Discord — the TEC community server
Discord was TEC’s real-time coordination hub. Day-to-day work, working-group meetings, quick decisions, onboarding, and announcements happened here. It complemented the Discourse forum: conversation and coordination on Discord, formal proposals and the durable record on the forum.
Role in TEC
- Working-group channels — most working groups (Comms, Legal, Gravity, Transparency, Tech Spec, Hatch Outreach, Rewards, Stewards, and others) ran channels for ongoing coordination.
- Onboarding — new contributors were welcomed and oriented through dedicated channels and bots.
- Announcements — community-wide updates, call reminders, and governance notices.
- GitHub activity — a channel mirrored repository activity so contributors could follow technical work; see Code and Technical Artifacts.
- Praise — much of the Praise contribution-recognition activity was dispatched and discussed in Discord; see Economics and Token Design.
What the archive captures
Governance-relevant and public channels are in scope for summarization and reference. The archive prioritizes channels that document decisions, coordination, and knowledge production.
Scope and privacy
Out of scope: direct messages, private/role-gated channels, and personal data. Where Discord content is summarized, personal names are redacted per the Archival Policy. A server and channel allowlist will be recorded with the dataset exports.
